FAQ AMAN System

AMAN is the integration of a 24/7 Fire Alarm Communicator system that enables Sharjah Civil Defence to centrally monitor, detect and report on “any fire alarm from buildings located in various part of Sharjah.” It is implemented by Sharjah Prevention and Safety Authority and operated by SANED. AMAN is required by law as of 2019.

4200 AED is the cost to install the communicator which includes:

o Supply, installation, testing and commissioning, monitoring of communication system
o The communicator device with 3 years of manufacturer warranty
o 1 year of maintenance on the communicator device
o 2 Assessments of your building to determine if the communicator can be installed

450 AED is the cost for an additional assessment:

The AMAN technicians will come prepared to install the communicator device when you schedule an appointment. They will allow 2 site visits as assessments. By the third site visit, the building should be in proper condition for installation. If it is again not ready by the third site visit, you will have to rectify the items and pay 450 AED before you can re-schedule the installation.

1500 AED is the cost for maintenance starting year 2 and onwards:

The above costs are fixed regardless of the size of your building. The above is not inclusive of VAT which will be applied.

Prior to installing the device, the AMAN technicians will assess if building is ready for the communicator system to be installed. They will check if the fire alarm system is working properly along with other requirements and give you a detailed report. The report will outline the things you have to rectify before the communicator device can be installed and the time-frame you will have to rectify them.

We require the fire alarm contractor for new buildings or maintenance service provider for operating buildings to be onsite when the AMAN technicians are there to assess and install the communicator.

o FA AMC Available Onsite
o Fire Alarm System
o Fire Alarm Cable
o FACP Fault Cable
o FACP Power Status
o Fire Pump
o Fire Pump Status Cable
o Fire Pump Fault Cable
o Power 220Vac Cable
o Wall space near the FA panel to install the communicator

The AMAN technicians will determine that onsite after assessing the condition of your building. They will allow either 1 month, 3 months, or 6 months depending on how intensive the repairs will be and the parameters of your building (size category, type etc.). Should the items not be rectified in the allotted time, the building owner may be subject to fees.

The building owner is responsible for the arrangement and payment of any works needed on their building or FA system in order to bring it to a working “healthy” condition. The building owner is also responsible for providing the necessary cables (fire alarm cable, fire alarm fault cable, etc.). These works are not included in the 4200 AED AMAN supply and installation fee.

One communicator per each stand-alone fire alarm system. AMAN follows the guidelines of Sharjah Civil Defence regulations. If the guidelines of Sharjah Civil Defence call for multiple stand-alone FA systems in your building, then a communicator will be required for each one. If your building has several FA panels all integrated into one main FACP, you will only need one communicator installed and integrated with the main FACP.

Yes – the communicator is able to be integrated into both standard or conventional Fire Alarm Control Panels (FACP). The FACP just needs to be functioning properly.

Once installation is successfully completed, a report will be available which you can download on the website. You should print this out and submit it to Sharjah Civil Defence when necessary.

The system targets all buildings across various sectors, with installation being mandatory for all establishments and optional for residential homes.

There are two central monitoring stations which will monitor your buildings at all times (24/7). If a fire alarm is triggered, civil defence will deploy to your building immediately. At the same time, the AMAN team will call your building site to verify if there is a real fire.

> In the event of a real fire the AMAN team will advise Sharjah Civil Defence to continue to the building site.

> In the event that the building representative confirms there is no real fire, the AMAN team will inform Sharjah Civil Defence the same. One fire fighting team from SCD will still show up at the building site to assess why the alarm was triggered and to ensure safety. The other fire fighting vehicles will retreat.
