Launching the Sharjah Occupational Safety and Health System (OSHJ)

The Sharjah Prevention and Safety Authority launched the Sharjah Occupational Safety and Health (OSHJ) system, which is the first of its kind at the level of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf, and is completely electronically managed and applied by safety mechanisms to all government and private agencies operating in the emirate.
The Sharjah Occupational Safety and Health System aims to define safety standards to be followed to safely practice various activities in the Emirate of Sharjah, by specifying 18 main requirements that employers must comply with, the most important of which are ensuring the safety and health of workers, contractors, visitors and those affected by the activities of the employer, and assessing risks. And controlling them, and taking into account the working conditions of people with disabilities, pregnant women and those who have recently given birth, in order to ensure a safe, sustainable and healthy work environment, and in a way that supports the safety and security path of the 50th plan of the UAE.
The system also seeks to enhance the position of the Emirate of Sharjah as a fertile investment environment, by providing the highest level of protection for workers in the Emirate, and supporting the industrial sector, in which the Emirate contributes 48% of the state's industrial output and the construction sector, which is witnessing rapid development, in addition to maintaining the status of the Emirate. Which represents a scientific edifice benefiting more than 22,000 students in university educational institutions.
Sheikh Eng. Khalid bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Prevention and Safety Authority, said: The rapid developments in the modern era have reinforced the importance of occupational safety and health, and its role in building an integrated system of roles and responsibilities that respond to challenges of all kinds, as the Sharjah Occupational Safety and Health System constitutes a mainstay for a new phase. of occupational safety in the region that responds to new economic transformations in various fields such as the industrial and construction fields, and defines the role of all stakeholders in the work system to ensure the safety of workers in work sites of different degrees of danger, and in a manner that achieves the authority’s vision to reach a safe society free from dangers.
