A number of government agencies in Sharjah have launched a joint initiative under the slogan “Safe Sharjah” aimed at protecting lives and property and raising awareness of the negative impact of some wrong practices and behaviors that pose a threat to public safety.
The initiative, which was announced at a press conference held at the Presidential Municipality yesterday morning, in the presence of representatives of participating government agencies, includes organizing awareness campaigns and inspection visits targeting residential, commercial and industrial areas in Sharjah to ensure that safety requirements are met and encourage community members to do their part in maintaining Safety of their children and their children, in line with the Sharjah Government's overall strategy to raise the Emirate's safety rates to the highest international standards.
Mohammed Abdullah, Director of Excellence in Sharjah Electricity and Water Authority, said: “The Authority is keen to cooperate with all government agencies to raise awareness of vital issues and provide security and safety for all residents of the Emirate. Electrical and excavations that take place without reference to the Authority, and the need to reconcile the conditions of random additions in residential neighborhoods, especially the old and conflicting areas with the requirements and building regulations ».
He stressed that the main objective of the initiative is to spread awareness and community culture of safety requirements through the distribution of awareness publications in Arabic, English and Urdu in order to communicate the objectives of the initiative to the largest possible segment of the community, and urged them to contribute and cooperate with the competent government authorities in enhancing their safety and the safety of their children, pointing out The Sharjah Contact Center will receive public inquiries regarding the initiative and respond to it around the clock, and will send awareness messages to the public about the objectives of the campaign.
Adel Omar, Director of Municipal Inspection and Inspection Department at the Municipality of Sharjah City, explained that specialists in government departments and agencies concerned with the initiative have been studying the initiative and developing its work plan over the past weeks. Geographic areas covered by the initiative, and target areas where negative practices and behaviors are frequent based on reports from field inspectors.
