Sheikh Saif bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Director of the Sharjah Prevention and Safety Authority, praised the efforts made by the Sharjah Public Works Department in issuing the Health, Safety and Environment Manual for the management of projects under its supervision.

Sheikh Saif bin Muhammad Al Qasimi pointed out that the department is a pioneer in providing initiatives that preserve the safety of workers, and the manual that has been issued will avoid many dangers in construction sites, the most important of which is working at heights.

Sheikh Saif bin Mohammed praised the integration of roles and efforts between government departments to implement Executive Council Resolution No. 15 of 2021 regarding the Sharjah Occupational Safety and Health System, which the Prevention and Safety Authority plans to launch at the end of next September, during the International Forum for Government Communication.

For her part, Zubaida Abdel Aziz, Head of the Government Communications Department at the Prevention and Safety Authority, pointed to the development of government departments for safety, health and occupational systems, according to the nature of their activities, which contributes to achieving the highest levels of safety in the emirate.

Abdulaziz explained that the Prevention and Safety Authority has developed 48 professional and guiding guides to help all government and private agencies comply with Executive Council Resolution No. 15 of 2021 regarding the Sharjah Occupational Safety and Health System, which sets 18 requirements for all employers to comply with, the most important of which is ensuring the safety of Workers, contractors, visitors, and those affected by the activities of the employer, assessing all expected risks in the workplace, in addition to the safe use of machines and equipment and following the necessary procedures when handling, transporting and storing materials, providing qualified paramedics, first aid equipment, appointing an occupational safety and health officer, and training workers.

The Prevention and Safety Authority has launched several awareness campaigns, the most important of which is the campaign to work at heights in the central and eastern regions, to educate contractors about the dangers of working at heights and the safe use of scaffolding, with the participation of municipalities in the central and eastern regions, in addition to the safety campaign from drowning in swimming pools aimed at raising awareness Community members follow safety measures in swimming pools, in cooperation with the Sharjah Sports Council, and the "Sharjah Children" of the Rubu' Qarn Foundation for Creating Leaders and Innovators.
