Sharjah Prevention and Safety Authority completes 9,000 inspection visits in 2023.

Sharjah Prevention and Safety Authority carried out 9,000 preventive inspection visits to establishments in various sectors in the Emirate of Sharjah during 2023, including residential, commercial, industrial, and construction projects. The visits focused on the most hazardous sectors according to the classification of Sharjah Occupational Safety and Health System (OSHJ).

Sheikh Khaled bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Authority, confirmed that the Authority achieved its operational goals for the year 2023, noting its efforts in organizing awareness inspection campaigns to maintain the safety of community members. Additionally, the Authority established the "Unified Security and Safety Team" in cooperation with Sharjah Police General Headquarters to report occupational accidents at workplaces, with a view to applying preventive measures that prevent the recurrence of such accidents.

He also pointed out that more than 3,500 trainees were trained at Salama Preventive Training Institute, in order to enhance safety and health standards and emphasize the importance of applying safety procedures in workplaces, identify safety and health responsibilities for employers and employees, and highlight work-related hazards and proper prevention methods for accidents and correct reporting.

The Authority also installed and renovated nearly 7,000 safety devices in 2023 to reduce response time to fire incidents in residential and industrial buildings in the Emirate of Sharjah.

During the past year, the Authority organized more than 50 awareness programs for different segments of society, benefiting over 6,800 trainees, including 2,000 children. The "Salamatak" bus visited 70 sites in the Emirate, covering Sharjah City, Central and Eastern regions, and benefiting 2,600 workers and building supervisors, who were educated on occupational safety and health principles and the risks of neglecting them, in multiple languages including Arabic, English, and Urdu.
