The Sharjah Prevention and Safety Authority, in cooperation with the Sharjah Labor Standards Development Authority, launched a heat stress prevention campaign, with the aim of raising awareness of the dangers of heat stress, its causes and ways to prevent its risks, in addition to the correct procedures to be followed in cases of injury. The campaign comes in support of the decision of the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, which stipulates the prohibition of working under the sun and in open places, from June 15 to September 15, during the period from twelve thirty in the afternoon until three in the afternoon. Sheikh Eng. Khalid bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Prevention and Safety Authority, affirmed that the health of workers in the Emirate of Sharjah is the most important priority of the Authority, and with concerted efforts between the various institutions and companies operating in the emirate, we ensure the application of the highest standards of occupational health and safety in the emirate. The authority's field teams will carry out inspection tours throughout the Emirate of Sharjah to monitor any violators of the decision and ensure its full implementation with the aim of reducing any injuries resulting from heat stress, in addition to holding training programs related to awareness and the procedures to be followed in cases of injury. The Prevention and Safety Authority urged all companies operating in the Emirate of Sharjah to register in the Sharjah Occupational Safety and Health System via the authority’s website, and to report any injuries related to public safety, including heat stress injuries, through the system.
