Sheikh Eng. Khalid bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Prevention and Safety Authority in Sharjah, revealed to Emirates Today that 7,000 people have been trained, from the beginning of 2020 until now, on safety and security standards, to avoid the risks and causes of accidents, and the mechanism to deal with them in the event they occur Noting that the authority has, since the beginning of the Corona crisis, made plans and strategies to ensure the continuity of its work, as awareness workshops were conducted through electronic visual communication means.

He pointed out that, during the year 2020, the authority visited 6,500 commercial, industrial and residential establishments to raise awareness, continue the inspection work, and ensure that entities and establishments comply with the laws and precautionary terms, which ensure that the level of risks in them is reduced.

He pointed out that the authority is working on three main projects, namely: “Aman”, “Salama” and “Sharjah Occupational Safety and Health System,” noting that the “Aman” project is considered one of the smart and pioneering projects in the emirate, as it works to monitor facilities on Around the clock, it detects early fire in innovative ways, and notifies the Civil Defense by sending electronic signals.

He indicated that the goal of the project is to reduce the response time to fire reports, as the system is flexible that allows it to be integrated into the fire alarm control panel in the building, with the ability to install it in various types of buildings, use and maintain it easily, and it is characterized by its ability to be developed and updated in the future.

He pointed out that the number of those registered in the early warning system "Aman", with the operations room of the General Administration of Civil Defense, has reached 5,500 facilities so far, explaining that the installation cost is 4,200 dirhams, and the facility is visited to ensure that the requirements for installing the "Aman" device are met.

Sheikh Khalid bin Saqr Al Qasimi said that the second project, which the authority is working on, is the basic training system for occupational safety and health "Salama", which requires all commercial establishments to train workers most at risk in the basics of occupational safety and health, to best deal with emergency situations Such as: fires in the workplace and other emergency situations, and it is provided in four languages ​​at 250 dirhams, pointing out that training is mandatory in certain rates according to the seriousness of each establishment, as the less dangerous establishment is required to train 10% of its total workers, and 15% for medium enterprises Risk, and 20% for dangerous installations.

And he indicated that more than 2,500 workers were trained during 2020, pointing out that the training was in attendance, and in accordance with the health procedures followed to prevent the spread of the Corona virus, indicating that the training reduces accidents that may occur in the facility, and determines the risks that may occur in the work environment, pointing out that it takes place Visiting industrial areas, to inspect that security and safety standards are met.

He indicated that the third project, the Sharjah Occupational Safety and Health System, includes all sectors operating in the Emirate of Sharjah. Its implementation will start early next year 2021, and the first phase targets high-risk sectors and establishments.
