The Ministry of Health and Prevention and the Sharjah Supreme Council for Family Affairs have concluded the Heat Exhaustion and Disease Prevention Campaign, which was launched last June under the title "Your Safety is Our Goal".

The campaign targeted 6,000 workers across various work sites in Sharjah’s cities and regions, in collaboration with several federal, local, and private sector partners. Its goal was to increase awareness about the risks of exposure to high temperatures, provide workers with preventive measures, and recognize their efforts during the summer months.

The campaign, which coincided with the midday work ban in open sites, aligns with the Ministry’s role—alongside its government and private sector partners—in improving public health. It is part of a comprehensive strategy aimed at fostering constructive collaboration, sharing knowledge and expertise, and strengthening productive partnerships to achieve the Ministry’s ambitious goals of enhancing quality of healthy life.

The campaign included educational awareness lectures at labor sites, focusing on the risks and symptoms of heat exhaustion, first aid procedures, identifying preventive measures and sound practices to avoid heat-related illnesses. Free medical check-ups were provided, along with personal protective equipment, food supplies, water, and gifts for the targeted workers.

The campaign team conducted field visits across several locations in Sharjah, the Central Region, and the Eastern Region, where large groups of workers are based. These sites included Khorfakkan Club for the people of determination ,the cement factory in Sajaa, Dibba Al-Hisn Cultural Center, Kalba University, Al Dhaid Cultural and Sports Club, Hamriyah Sports and Cultural Club’s gymnasium, Hamriyah Free Zone, and Sharjah Sports Club.

Sheikh Eng. Khalid bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Chairman of Sharjah Prevention and Safety Authority, emphasized that workers' health is a top priority for the Authority. He highlighted the importance of collaboration between various institutions and companies operating in the emirate to ensure the highest standards of occupational health and safety.

He also affirmed the Authority's ongoing commitment to developing safety and health systems and procedures, continuously striving to enhance workplace safety measures.

Mohammed Abdullah Al Zarouni, Director of the Ministry’s Representative Office in Sharjah, emphasized that the campaign had achieved significant success in achieving its objectives.

Iman Rashid Saif, Director of the Health Education Department at Sharjah Supreme Council for Family Affairs, stated that the campaign played a key role in promoting health awareness and community guidance to improve public health. She highlighted that this aligns with the council’s strategic goal of supporting health awareness and education initiatives by organizing lectures and workshops to prevent diseases and encourage healthy lifestyles across Sharjah emirate.
