The Sharjah Prevention and Safety Authority confirmed to the "Union" its permanent interest in various aspects of occupational safety and health for workers in the Emirate of Sharjah, noting that the application of the law to prevent work during the afternoon is an integral part of the interests of "the Authority", in order to maintain the safety and security of workers in the work environment. .
 The authority indicated that it conducts annually, in cooperation with other government agencies, such as the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation and the Labor Standards Development Authority, awareness campaigns targeting workers and employers, to clarify the dangers associated with working under direct sunlight during hot times, which may cause them heat stress. It affects their health, security and safety.
The authority explained that this year, it was planned to start conducting field visits with the aim of raising awareness and addressing workers and employers in various languages, in addition to publishing awareness publications through social media to deliver the message to the largest segment of employers, and it is scheduled to use the awareness bus to display educational materials. It is simplified for workers in their workplaces, noting that there are inspectors in the Authority who carry out field visits during times of prohibition of work, in order to ensure the commitment of facilities, workers and employers to avoid working in open spaces, and under sunlight during this period, and construction sites are directly targeted. However, other establishments that conduct their business in open spaces are also visited, and non-compliant establishments are made aware of the harms of this practice without issuance, violations or fines. In the event of non-compliance, the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation is contacted to deal with this case according to their procedures.
