"Sharjah Prevention and Safety Authority" launches the 4th batch of the Professional Diploma in Occupational Safety and Health

Sharjah, October 24 / WAM / The Sharjah Prevention and Safety Authority, in collaboration with the Center for Continuing Education and Professional Development at the University of Sharjah, launched today the fourth batch of the Professional Diploma in Occupational Safety, Health, and Business Continuity. The initiative aims to raise awareness about preventive measures in the community and enhance safety culture across various work environments.

 

The diploma targets employees of government entities in the Emirate of Sharjah, aiming to qualify them as specialists in occupational safety, health, and business continuity. This initiative is part of the ongoing efforts to enhance employees' safety and reduce risks that may arise from unsafe work environments.

 

Sheikh Engineer Khalid bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Authority, explained that the Authority is committed to developing national competencies in the field of occupational safety and health through specialized training programs. He described training and qualification as the key to enhancing a safe working environment, which the Authority strives to achieve in collaboration with its partners at the University of Sharjah.

He said: “We look forward to empowering government employees to become safety ambassadors in their institutions, contributing to the creation of a safe work environment and ultimately leading to a risk-free society.”

Dr. Asma Nassiri, Director of the Center for Continuing Education and Professional Development at the University of Sharjah, pointed out that the program includes several key areas, such as the fundamentals of public health, an introduction to health and safety systems, the study of various hazards, and safety methods, including working in confined spaces, working at high altitudes, and safety principles in high-risk chemical industries, etc.
